Johnson & Obama's
Supreme Court Nominee
Argued Before Sotomayor
Arguing a case on behalf of the City of Mount Vernon before the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Nichelle Johnson had no idea
she would one day reflect on those moments as historically memorable.
Nichelle will always remember presenting her strong defense to the
panel on which Judge Sotomayor sat.
Sotomayor's background is not much different from that of Nichelle
A. Johnson. She, too, was raised in the Bronx by a Puerto Rican mother.
Johnson excelled in school and college. Driven to push herself, Nichelle
graduated from Brooklyn Law School with honors in oral advocacy and
received a number of awards and recognition for her debate skills.
Never one to shy away from hard work, Nichelle brought her tireless
passion to Mount Vernon where she quickly become the Law Department's
busiest attorney. Not only does she have trial experience in local
and district court, she is an attorney admitted to practice before
the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. |
